weekend sewing giveaway

Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross is finally here in my hands. I've been waiting patiently to see it. I actually laughed out loud when this cover was chosen because that is ME balancing up in that tree. I never intended to be the cover model, it's just easiest to use whomever is around when you are off in Vermont on a photo shoot, it's a good thing I shaved my legs that morning!

The back of the cover shows some of the projects in the book, a great mix of clothes, bags, aprons, cute ideas for kids, and even a pup tent to relax in when you're all done with sewing. All the projects in the book are easy enough to finish in a weekend.

When you take the jacket off the book you can see one of Heather's patterns from her Kokka line "Rabbits and Race Cars". We thought it was a nice little surprise.

Heather actually illustrated all of the how-to's in the book, I love her drawing style. To see more of the photos in this book, visit the photo gallery.

Each book also includes two huge pull out pattern sheets for the projects in the book. (And believe me, it was tricky to fit all those projects on there!)

You may not realize that book publishing is a long, slow process. The photo shoots for this book were shot way back in the summer of 2007, and Heather was working on the actual patterns and projects a long time prior to the actual shooting. The photos are then edited, and the manuscript finished and edited. I designed the book last year, between February and July, sending it back and forth with Melanie Falick and her team. So almost a year later it's been printed, bound, shipped, and finally is here in my hands.

And I'm happy to pass it along to you. Leave a comment letting us know your favorite way to spend a weekend, and my little helpers and I will pick a winner Tuesday evening, March 17th. (Comments will close at 8 PM Tuesday PST.. Wow! That's a LOT of comments!)

As soon as the weather warms up it will be at the park. I love walking to it after dinner and chasing my son. We both get home envigorated and he is ready to crash in bed. Thank you for the giveaway.

My favorite weekends are in the summer: simple food from the farmer's market. an outdoor fire. walking down to the pavilion to take in a movie with the locals. friends coming over after church. games in the backyard. books. pretty much anything with my boys.

The book is beautiful! I would be honored to receive one and get to work on some of the patterns!

Saturday starts with bringing my 2 month old daughter into bed with me and my hubby for a morning nap. Then it's off to a lake to watch the birds. It ends with our latest Netflix movie on the sofa while the little one sleeps. Wonderful. Sunday we head to church and then relax the rest of the day as a family.

My favorite weekend means being out of the house and doing anything fun with my husband and two sons. No screens, just laughter.

Love to have outdoor activities with the kids in the morning...relax during naptime, maybe a little bit of crafting and then on to dinner with friends!

My perfect weekend includes some fabric and craft supplies shopping, spending time and meals with family and friends, some cozy time at home on the couch snuggling with my boyfriend, sleeping late and of course - having some time for crafting or sewing something nice. Sometimes I have so many projects running through my head I don't know where to start. That's why I think this book is just perfect for me and my weekends.
Thanks for the giveaway,
Maya

Weekends are my favorite time! It's good quality time my husband and I can spend with our four boys. We like to take long drives, take a walk, or spend it inside watching movies or reading a book out loud. I also like to spend some time catching up on crafts or making a new recipe while DH spends time with the kids.

It's that Saturday morning snuggle time in my bed when the kids jump in. The time when we're supposed to go do something productive, but prefer to just tickle and hide under the covers.

My favorite way to spend a weekend is playing with my kids, relaxing with my husband, having no plans or agenda at all.

Saturday: cooking breakfast with my husband, biking to the farmer's market, gardening in the afternoon, and having friends over for dinner.

Sunday: sleeping in, reading the newspaper, trying out a new recipe for the week, talking to my family and friends on the phone.

When the weather is colder, as it is now, making maple syrup and going sledding are great, too!

Anything, knitting or hand stitching,I can do curled up on the couch. Warm and cozy.

This weekend was a fantastic weekend that was marked with favorite things: visiting Mr Ferucci for some eggs, making mud with the garden soil and creek water, roasting marshmallows over the burn pile, giving my son the first wiffle (haircut) of the season, getting a little sunburn on my face, finding a pile of worms for my daughter, making homemade pizza, and having four hours all to myself. I don't know how it happened to have all these great things occur in 24 hours, but it did, and it was beautiful. Happy Spring!

A good weekend is lots of family time with some friends too. A barbecue and maybe even a little yard work to make the house look new and fresh. And of course, I love a Sunday nap.

sleep in, big cooked breakfast, walk to the beach with 12-month old for a swim, lazy afternoon of craft, relaxing family dinner followed by movie night at home. Loving the look of this book - can't wait to get my hands on a copy!
