star cupcakes

C really wanted cupcakes, and I was having a hard time thinking how to make the cupcakes special, and still fit in with our rocket ship/outer space theme. I thought of making little paper stars, but didn't really want to cut them all out, or buy a special punch. Maybe I could use sugar cookies?

Before baking some of my star cookies, I pushed in a wooden skewer (mine were three different lengths so the stars wouldn't all be at the same height). It helps to add a tiny bit of dough over the top of the skewer before you bake it so it's really in there nice and tight.

They looked so festive, and I think they would be lovely for a Fourth of July celebration as well. I can't be the first one to think of this, right?

Five candles added to the first row of cupcakes makes for a very happy birthday boy.

these look fantastic! I love the colors of the stars — remind me of your heart baby shower that I loved. and he must have loved the cupcakes as kids love anything on a stick twice as much. really clever + adorable! I bet they'll be a lot of star cookie cupcakes for Fourth of July now.

I would really like one of those cupcakes (can I have one with a red star please)? My mum says if I want stars on my cupcakes I have to make them myself... maybe tomorrow.

How festive! I love seeing great birthday ideas for boys; I'm challenged when it comes to my own (who happens to have a birthday coming up, conveniently enough!)

Oh my gosh...how sweet are those? And so simple. Isn't it usually the simple little things that make life sweet, anyway? Love it...

I just discovered your blog and have fallen in love with your beautiful ideas and inspirational posts. My eldest just had his 4th birthday party a month ago, I wish I had discovered you earlier, I would have used some of your ideas for a boys b'day. Will have to wait till next year.

I did flowers in cupcakes for my daughter's 1st b-day and I think I saw the idea in MS Kids. Isn't that where you worked?
