when the tooth fairy forgets
My daughter Bee lost her first tooth this past week, which is about the most exciting thing to happen to a kindergartener EVER. She was so excited to finally get to use her tooth fairy bunny and carefully placed her tooth in the tiny pocket and happily went to bed. And do you know what happened? The tooth fairy didn't come! The second night came and Bee remembered to put her tooth under her pillow again and can you believe.. the tooth fairy forgot TWO nights in a row! So we decided to take some drastic measures.
We thought maybe some big signs might help the tooth fairy find its way to Bee's tooth. We decided maybe Bee has a different tooth fairy than her brother C and maybe this little fairy doesn't know her way around our house or where to find Bee's tooth (not every kid has a tooth fairy bunny pillow).
Thankfully it worked! And the tooth fairy finally did come and Bee was very happy to find a $1 bill in her bunny's tiny pocket.
We can't be the only people this has happened to.. what happens at your house when the tooth fairy forgets?

this is so cute, way to be creative! xo.
Hahaha, so funny -- the tooth fairy regularly forgets to come by in our house! I will remember the signs, I'm sure it's very helpful. And what an adorable bunny! Did you make it? xxx
I told my son that it might be the the tooth fairy checked and the tooth wasn't clean enough- they only pay for clean teeth! He brushed the little tooth and put it back under and sure enough he got money that time!!!
My son had doubts about the tooth fairy and told me he had hidden his tooth and wanted to see if the fairy would find it. Turned out she didn't - I think she never even tried. The next night my son took the tooth from the sock he had hidden it in and placed in under his pillow, and got the 1 € coin he was hoping for. :-)
The tooth fairy has forgotten to come around our house on NUMEROUS occasions. Usually she's stuck in bad weather and can't fly with her tiny wings. Once she wasn't feeling very well and couldn't make it. But, being the sweet little fairy she is, the next night she always writes a very teeny tiny hand written note explaining why she couldn't make it and leaving an extra special little gift in addition to the one dollar she usually leaves, just to make up for the disappointment. And there is always BIG disappointment. You'd think my girls would know by now that our tooth fairy is a little flakey!
Bee's $1 bill from the tooth fairy sure made her very happy! And I love the way you guided the tooth fairy to your teeth. She certainly doesn't have a way out there. Haha!
The tooth fairy has been known to get caught in a storm occasionally around here...:)
p.s. glad to hear we aren't the only ones!
p.p.s. timers on phones work well as late night reminders
I laughed and cried - thankfully I haven't gotten so far as to lose a tooth, so have not yet had the opportunity to forget - but I have made equally bad mistakes. Our site talks about exactly this - and in spite of your best efforts, I still vote you "next mommy of the year" - good luck with the next tooth!
Wow! This post relieved me from all my guilt! I've been the tooth fairy for 12 years now (my son knows the tooth fairy is me but no one will admit it out loud at this point). We forgot twice but made it up the next night. Shew!
Our sons are now grown but I laugh at how traumatized I was the first time the tooth fairy forgot. I quickly asked my son if he did the tooth fairy dance before he went to sleep which included singing "tooth fairy I lost a tooth". This always made me remember. :-)
I know this post is from a while back, I just had to comment when I read it. The tooth fairy missed our house when my daughter had 3 teeth pulled! We thought perhaps it didn't get on the tooth fairy's schedule due to the fact that they were pulled instead of falling out naturally. The second night the tooth fairy left a very nice, teeny-tiny apology note, with a bonus coin to make up for the blunder. The tooth fairy has yet to miss another tooth! :-)
This really made me laugh - I've forgotten to put the money under the pillow at least 4 times, only to be woken up by a very concerned little girl with a very wobbly bottom lip!
Luckily I had a brain wave & suggested that out tooth fairy was a trainee so while she looked under every pillow I rushed to Grana's room & put it under her pillow. The joy when it was found was a thrill & the talk of how silly the tooth fairy was to get it wrong "but it's ok coz she's still learning mummy'. It's got me out of a few situations & involved a lot of letters written & I have had to write to tiniest notes back - the smallest lettering I've ever done.
Anyway she got it right last time & we all celebrated our part in her passing her tooth fairy exams !
sorry wrong web address!
Our tooth fairy forgot this week too! Not only did she forget, but we forgot to put the tooth under the pillow. Luckily, it was only the second time the tooth fairy visited our house, the first was a few weeks ago. The second night the tooth fairy did not forget, and although the first tooth got a $5 bill, the second one brought a shiny new two dollar coin.
The first time the tooth fairy didn't come in our house, we assumed she forgot. But what actually happened was that she was so busy that she couldn't make it to all the children in one night. She explained all this in a note that was found folded into a paper airplane, which she rode in on in the wee hours of the night. What she did forget that time though, was her tiny little magic wand, which she uses to make her paper airplanes fly.
The tooth fairy left me $5 bucks but forgot to take my tooth with her. I think Sometimes the tooth fairy are way too busy and are in such a rush that they forget stuff just like us!!! this is my first time it happens to me.........
our tooth fairy often comes at the end of her shift. We have found that the tooth fairy sometimes has enough teeth to make their jewelry and comes only when they need more teeth. xoxo
