when the tooth fairy forgets
My daughter Bee lost her first tooth this past week, which is about the most exciting thing to happen to a kindergartener EVER. She was so excited to finally get to use her tooth fairy bunny and carefully placed her tooth in the tiny pocket and happily went to bed. And do you know what happened? The tooth fairy didn't come! The second night came and Bee remembered to put her tooth under her pillow again and can you believe.. the tooth fairy forgot TWO nights in a row! So we decided to take some drastic measures.
We thought maybe some big signs might help the tooth fairy find its way to Bee's tooth. We decided maybe Bee has a different tooth fairy than her brother C and maybe this little fairy doesn't know her way around our house or where to find Bee's tooth (not every kid has a tooth fairy bunny pillow).
Thankfully it worked! And the tooth fairy finally did come and Bee was very happy to find a $1 bill in her bunny's tiny pocket.
We can't be the only people this has happened to.. what happens at your house when the tooth fairy forgets?

Our tooth fairy has no forgotten yet but she has woke up in a panic at 6am and really quietly snuck in before anyone woke up!
Baby brothers in tutus ! too funny............................
The tooth fairy forgot at our house too. But then it turned out she really went to the wrong house when our neighbor (who is 7) found 2 notes under her pillow addressed to our son saying, "Hey, where's the tooth?" and our son found a note under his pillow saying, "Hey, funny story here: I went to the wrong house!" Everyone had a good laugh over the whole thing.
A few days later, another tooth fell out, but at school so it was not put under his pillow the first night. But I woke up in a cold sweat, feeling very panicky, before I remembered that I had another day.
The same thing has happened to us MANY times. Once my daughter put a heart wrenching note under her pillow saying "easter bunny...why don't you come get my tooth?".
In the end we left the tooth money with a bit of "late charge fees".
I love your daughters posters!
When I was in high school our marching band had a tradition of playing on each of the directors homes during homecoming. One year we ended up at the wrong address. The next morning the director got a call from the house we had been at thanking us for the full out tooth fairy experience for the first lst tooth in their house. The parents were only concerned about what they would have to do for the next tooth.
When the tooth fairy forgets at our house, it's because "that must be her night off"
We explained to our kids that we had signed the "first tooth bonus, no first night guarantee" contract with the tooth fairy. So they each got something special (Lego kits, I believe) plus a dollar for the first tooth, and a gold coin dollar per tooth after that. And they know there's no first night guarantee so they are very relaxed if the fairy is very busy that week!
We've had this happen many many times. One time I think there was a big storm in Brazil and she must have gotten caught in the storm. One time Dad went looking and wouldn't you know it, the kid must have knocked it on the floor behind the bed while he slept. Another time, three days later, Dad found it tucked into the springs of the bunk above. It was good that up to that point we had made extra special effort to laugh at the antics of our tooth fairy. They thought she was just being silly. We always leave the teeth so it's easier to make up so silly story.
How sweet. Our boy is waiting patiently to be able to use his tooth fairy pocket on his mouse (thank you for the inspiration) but so far is one of the only holdouts in his K class who hasn't lost a tooth. Hopefully the tooth fairy will remember when the time comes. I do remember writing a note for the tooth fairy for my brother when the dentist kept on of his teeth and he was in a panic - my mum kept the note - it is hysterical.
I lost a tooth yesterday. The t fairy forgot ti get my tooth
This is adorable! Our tooth fairy forgets a lot...or is just too tired! ;0
we forgot once but so did she!!! we made up for it after two nights as well. then daddy asked to be the tooth fairy for the last one and he was more than generous! he blamed the darkness but i think i'm going to take over from now on! we have one little one who keeps telling me that his teeth are wiggly but there are not...yet. i think he's desperate for a visit.
Sometimes she needs a vacation just like everyone else. So just keep waiting. She'll get there when she can. (remember)
Where did you get the Max doll?? Our son's name is Max and I have been looking for one like that. The only ones I can find have an angry face.
My son once swallowed a tooth in his sleep. You should have seen the advice he gave the tooth fairy on where she might find the tooth!
Ha - I have that letter saved for la laugh when he grows up.
Our tooth fairy once forgot a tooth for well over a month. She eventually left this note!

With our oldest we had a very specific story...if the tooth came out after 5pm then it would take the toothfairy a day longer to get here; she (toothfairy) already had here flight plan for the night. I was always caught without any cash!
Yes!!I always feel so strange when I've lost my tooth, of course when I was a child! The tooth fairy is the true? Hehehe~
Hahaha! I so had to laugh because when my children were young I forgot the tooth fairy once in a while and in the morning I was so annoyed with myself. And then the skills a mother develops to mask the mistake - I invented lots of strange stories. In the end, I guess it made it all the more interesting. Thanks for sharing! Greetings from Germany
She leaves money in strange places like the bathroom or kitchen.
