Alt Summit is in full swing today, and I woke up a little sad to be here in California and not enjoying the snowy slopes of Utah. I had hoped to take part in one of the panels, but couldn't make it this weekend due to a family event. (A rather big family event.. my sweet grandmother is turning 90! And my family is gathering up in Sacramento to throw her a big party and take her out for a fancy dinner.. how could I miss that?)

Hey, no one said anything about a fancy dinner. Hope you get a bit of a break coming up soon. The invitations are gorgeous. They are both still on my fridge.

brooke, i'm also sad that you weren't able to be at the summit because i was there and it would've been so fun to meet you!
but, having said that i think being there for your grandmother's 90th birthday was without a doubt the better choice!! the book you made was amazing, and i'm sure meant so much to your grandmother.
so much of the focus of the summit was focused on building readership and getting sponsors/advertisers on blogs, that i would have loved to hear your take on why you choose to stay as commercial-free as possible on your blog?
