the county fair

Is there anything better than the county fair? I get a little excited when it comes to town. The kids loved riding the ferris wheel, visiting the new baby animals, crashing into each other with bumper cars, watching the pig races, and eating corn dogs. And while all that is fun, I go for a different reason...

Classic black and white photo booths, the best I've seen on the West Coast. As you may already know, I love photo booths. It's getting harder and harder to find the old-fashioned dip and dunk kind, they keep getting replaced with those hokey digital photo booths, but these booths at the county fair are the real deal.

We always do a few strips. One or two with all of us, and now that Bee and C are getting old enough, a strip or two all by themselves. I love waiting for the film to slide into the little drying slot and seeing the poses my little ones chose. The strips this year were particularly good! Until next year county fair.. until next year.

These photos are so nostalgic, I feel like I'm stepping back in time. But isn't that how the fair is? Like time standing still? I love Garrison Keeler's National Geographic article about country fairs where he addresses that timeless quality they have.

Did you have any food on a stick? Mmmm, for some reason it's just better that way!

Hi! I came across your blog through purl, but now I'm thinking that my husband served with your bro Matt in France. Anyway, hi! Great blog! I loved your curious george costume for your little guy and I'm thinking we might do it this year--can you tell me where you got his cute brown outfit? I may resort to dyeing some jammies if I must, but I'd love to buy an already brown get-up if I can.

Also, I am with everyone else. Love the shoes. Wish I had them on my feet!

You are right Kate.. they are the adult Saltwater sandals. I have navy and tan, and love them both.

Our fair is a week or so away and your post has definitely put me in the mood! I only wish our's had those fantastic photo booths! The only real one left in our neck of the woods is at a KMart stuffed in between the check out lanes and an ICEE machine. Three years ago, when my oldest started Kindergarten, we began a tradition of visiting that photo booth during our back-to-school shopping date. Last night was that date and I am so happy to have another completely imperfect strip to add to my box of favorite memories! Thanks for sharing yours!

Oh I love photo booths too. We just missed the fair with coming back to the States :( but there is next year. I don't remember ours having a photo booth - I'll have to look better next time. I also love all the fair food too like the corn on a stick and elephant ears - yum.

Like you, I love the fair and I love photo booths. My girls and I have a strip from every single year at the Great State Fair of TExas from the time they were born. Now, their hair is so big and curly and their bodies so tall, I'm just a little pair of sunglasses peeking from between their magnificent curls.

yes yes! we did the Dutchess county fair when we were back in NY visiting family, and it was awesome! I have that post still "in the hole" since I came home with far too many photos, but...can't wait to edit them. LOVE the county fair!

While you strength like the appearance of a couple of shoes & accessories, you may try them on and find they are painful within the primary five notes. You should reflect the type of physical the sole of the shoe is complete from before creation any snap choices.
